Induction Programme in Berhampur University for Inspires the New Batch of Students 

Berhampur, 25/9 (Abhijit Kar): The auditorium of Berhampur University was abuzz with energy as the 2023-25 batch of New Student’s gathered for their induction programme. The event, coordinated by Prof. Ganesh Sethi, Director of Student Welfare, featured an esteemed lineup of speakers who left a lasting impression on the fresh faces eager to begin their academic journey. The programme commenced with a warm welcome from Prof. Ganesh Sethi, who set the tone for the day. He introduced the distinguished guest on the stage, Prof. Susant Kumar Baral, Chairman of the PG Council. Prof. Baral extolled the glory of Berhampur University and emphasized the responsibilities that come with being a student. He motivated the students to strive for excellence and make their university, parents, and themselves proud.

Following Prof. Baral, Prof. Sudhakar Patra, Hostel Warden of Berhampur University, presented an informative overview of the university’s facilities, including hostels, libraries, sports facilities, gymnasium, Wi-Fi connectivity, hospital services, and the campus canteen. He also highlighted the diverse courses and departments available to students and introduced the “Nirvaya Squad,” a specialized police unit dedicated to ensuring the safety of female students. Dr. Satyanarayan Kund, the Exam Controller of Berhampur University, elucidated the examination structure and pattern, providing valuable insights to the incoming students. Prof. Sukant Kumar Tripathy, Director of the Central Instrumental Centre, shed light on the extensive research opportunities within the university. Dr. Jayant Panda, Head of NSS (National Service Scheme), shared the remarkable achievements of the NSS at both state and national levels. He encouraged every student to join the NSS and contribute to society. A captivating video showcased the remarkable work and achievements of the NSS.

The highlight of the event was the presence of the Chief Guest, Prof. Geetanjali Dash, Vice Chancellor of Berhampur University. Prof. Dash stressed the importance of learning and personal growth during one’s time at the university. She underlined Berhampur University’s commitment to research excellence, highlighting the university’s Research Excellence Centre, which has received acclaim from the World Bank. Prof. Dash urged students not to waste a single moment and to use their time wisely for personal development. She also emphasized the significance of the university’s green campus, not only for the institution but also for global environmental sustainability. Prof. Dash introduced the concept of “My Campus, My Responsibility” and announced the organization of extramural lectures aimed at students’ holistic development.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Sasmita Behera, the Deputy PG Hostel Warden, expressing gratitude to all the speakers and participants for making the induction programme a resounding success. The induction programme at Berhampur University left the new batch of students inspired, motivated, and ready to embark on their educational journey, armed with knowledge and a sense of responsibility that goes beyond the classroom.
