Espionage: Assam Man Arrested By Odisha Crime Branch For Sharing Secret Information With Pakistani

Bhubaneswar: A team of policemen from Odisha Crime Branch yesterday arrested a man in Nagaon district of Assam for allegedly sharing secret information with a Pakistani, a source said today.

According to the police source, the accused identified as Iqbal Hussain was nabbed with the help of local cops from his residence in Genduwa Pothar village of Batadrava locality of the district.

Hussain previously worked in Bengaluru but had recently returned home and was arrested.

It is pertinent to mention, the Crime Branch earlier registered a case under certain Sections of the IT Act against the man for allegedly sharing secret information with a Pakistani man identified as Abdul Haleem against financial benefits, the senior official expressed.

When contacted, Nagaon Superintendent of Police Nabaneet Mahanta said, “Odisha Police had sought the Assam Police’s cooperation in tracing Hussain. The arrested man will be taken to Odisha after initial interrogation and completion of the legal formalities at a court here.”
