Press conference and general meeting of Odisha weightlifting Association

Berhampur, 27/9: A meeting of Odisha Indian weightlifting Association has been held in Berhampur. International weightlifter K. Ravi Kumar has been elected as the general secretary of the association. The meeting discussed how to bring good weightlifting sports from the state including Ganjam district to national and international level in the coming years. Currently, 73 indoor stadiums are to be built in the state, out of which 47 stadiums will have special facilities for weightlifters. Retired sports persons who have played nationally and internationally will be hired as coaches. Brahampur and Dhenkanal along with Bhubaneshwar also have special arrangements for sports persons. Among them, Bhubaneswar has 200 women’s sports facilities and 200 men’s sports facilities in Brahampur. There will be 9 coaches including one foreign coach in both places. While K. Ravi Kumar is in charge of these two centers as the managing officer, Ravi Kumar said that he will work towards how the players of our state will occupy the highest position in the upcoming Olympics.
