Union Minister Backs Chithra Amidst Trolling Over Ram Mandir Remarks, Says ‘Won’t Allow…’

Renowned playback singer K.S. Chithra is currently dealing with a significant cyber attack after expressing her views on the upcoming consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Union Minister V Muraleedharan, expressing concerns about the incident, emphasized that Kerala should not turn into a ‘Taliban’ state where one doesn’t have freedom of expression.

The controversy began when Chithra, in a video message released on Sunday, encouraged people to recite hymns dedicated to Lord Ram during the event on January 22. She also urged individuals to light lamps in and around their homes in the evening.

Union Minister V Muraleedharan expressed his dismay at the cyberbullying Chithra is facing on social media platforms. He questioned whether it is a crime to light lamps or chant Lord Ram’s name in Kerala. He criticized the silence of the police on such incidents and attributed the harassment to those who had previously tried to disrupt the traditions of Sabarimala.
