Two arrested for possession of illegal explosives, estimated value 3.5 lacks

Berhampur, 30/9 (Abhijit Kar): Based on credible information, a team of B.N. pur police lead by ASI Giri Govardhan Jena of Lanjipli Fandi. Shivashakti Nagar of Lanjipally raided a rented house in the city and found a huge stock of illegal fire crackers kept in the house. In this incident, the police team arrested two persons, out of which Sanjay Kumar Panigrahi, father of Sachin Panigrahi, and Sukant Kumar Behera, father of Asik Kumar Behera, of Lanjipalli have been arrested. In this case Case No. 489/2023 U/S 286 IPC/Sec 9(B)(1)(b) of Explosives Act/Sec 5 of Odisha Fireworks and Loud Acts Regulation Act 1958 has been filed. According to the information, fire crackers were illegally rented in Uma Nagar, Lanjipally.  In this raid, the police seized fire crackers of different brands from about 54 big carton boxes. The estimated value of the seized firecrackers will be around 3.5 lacks rupees, said Berhampur SP Sarvana Vivek M.
