Swachh and Swasth Bharat vibe! PM Modi leads cleanliness drive with fitness influencer

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday led an hour-long nationwide cleanliness drive ahead of Gandhi Jayanti. PM Modi took part in “shramdaan” along with a fitness influencer Ankit Baiyanpuriya as he pitched for blending fitness and well-being with cleanliness. “Beyond just cleanliness, we blended fitness and well-being also into the mix,” the Prime Minister said.

Several people from all walks of life, from politicians to students, took part in the hour-long drive today, responding to PM Modi’s call for the nationwide cleanliness drive.

Posting the video on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Today, as the nation focuses on Swachhata, Ankit Baiyanpuriya and I did the same! Beyond just cleanliness, we blended fitness and well-being also into the mix. It is all about that Swachh and Swasth Bharat vibe.”

In the 4-minute clip, the Prime Minister can be seen wielding a broom along with Baiyanpuriya, a fitness enthusiast from Haryana. During the drive, PM Modi also interacted with Baiyanpuriya and asked him about people’s stand on cleanliness in his village in Sonipat and about his fitness routine.  The Prime Minister said that people are now more aware about cleanliness.

Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath

PM Modi in an recent episode of his monthly radio programme “Mann Ki Baat” appealed to the people of the country to come together for “one hour of Shramdaan for Swachhata” on October 1. The Prime Minister said it would be a “Swachhanjali” to Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his birth anniversary.

Several political leaders including, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief JP Nadda participated in the cleanliness drive in Ahmedabad and in Delhi’s Jhandewalan area respectively. Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath also took part in the drive ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ in Sitapur.

Cricketers such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also urged citizens to join the largest citizen-led movement to strengthen the resolve towards cleanliness.
