Laxman Nayak’s Jayanti is celebrated in Brahampur Mandal Jail

Brahmapur, 22/11 (Abhijit Kar): The 124th birth anniversary of Martyr Laxman Naik has been celebrated in Brahmapur Mandal Jail premises. In this program organized by District Information and Public Relations Department Anukuli, Deputy Commissioner of Berhampur Municipal Corporation Binod Kumar Behera was the chief guest, Satya Narayan Behera, Jailor of Berhampur Mandal Jail, President of Mahan Sangha Sushant Kumar Sabat joined and floral tributes to the portrait of the great fighter. First of all, wreaths were placed at the statue in front of Mandal Prison where the brave fighter was hanged, then wreaths were placed at the Martyr’s Memorial Temple in the prison premises. A mass gathering of all the inmates was held in front of the memorial temple.

District Information and Public Relations Officer Rabi Narayan Behera conducted and presided over the program and all the guests highlighted the life style of martyr Laxman Naik and how he fought against the Irish rule. The memory of the great patriotic freedom fighter Martyr Laxman Naik, who raised his voice against the Irish rule and led the freedom struggle from Koraput, was commemorated. He presented the memory of Gandhiji’s involvement in the freedom movement and how he was found guilty and hanged on false charges. The inmates sang Gandhi ji’s favorite humans and celebrated the freedom fighters. The event was attended by Berhampur sub-district information and public relations officer Rashmi Rani Nimaka, many dignitaries of Berhampur city, dignitaries and many journalists.
