On this occasion, his wife Aparajita Patnaik, senior leader of the party AICC, Lok Sabha observer Ram Pratap Singh, district women president Banja Panda, youth president Bikas Nayak were prominently present.

Similarly Senior lawyer Deepak Patnaik filed his nomination papers as a Congress candidate for Berhampur Assembly. He first worshiped and took blessings at Hilpatna Ganesha Temple. After leaving the district office, he went around the city in a huge procession and reached Chhatrapur with his supporters and submitted his nomination papers. At this time, Congress leader Pramod Jena, Sujay Acharya, Town President Atulya Padhi, Pradeep Behera, Tatsat Subudhi and many other party leaders were present.
