Class-X student brutally murdered by friends over money in Odisha’s Rourkela

A class-X student was allegedly killed by three of his friends over a matter pertaining to money in Udit Nagar area of Odisha’s Rourkela city, last night. The deceased was identified as Rudra Narayan Padhi (15) of Nua Basti in Balughat area. He was a student of Developed Area High School in Civil Township here.

While two of the accused were being questioned at the Udit Nagar police station, another one reportedly absconded. According to reports, Rudra’s friends had asked him to give them money for the purpose of spending, two days ago. As he expressed his inability to help them due to lack of money, they telephoned Rudra asking him to come to Udit Nagar.

As he reached the place, the trio trashed him with lathi and crushed him to death with stone. The accused then dumped the body near Sarana Chhak, reports said. Worried over Rudra’s delay in returning home, his parents lodged a missing complaint with the Raghunathpali police. This morning, locals spotted the body and informed his parents about the matter. Police have recovered the body for post-mortem and registered a murder case in this connection.
