Internationally-Acclaimed Painter Jatin Das Restricted To Offer Last Tributes To Geeta Mehta

Bhubaneswar: Eminent international painter and sculptor Jatin Das was barred today from entering Geeta Mehta’s residence in New Delhi. The elderly man from Odisha, who was there to pay his tributes to the departed soul, expressed his displeasure before mediapersons.

“I have come to this house after several years and earlier came when Biju Babu died. It is so sad that she (Geeta Mehta) passed away. She was full of life and was always remaining cheerful. She was very gentle and she was not distant. She was not artificial. I have met her previously several times in America, London, New Delhi, and Bhubaneswar,” the veteran artist said.“I sent information to Naveen Babu (the Chief Minister) intending to go in but he did not allow me. It is a strange thing,” the octogenarian painter expressed.

It is pertinent to mention, Patnaik is in New Delhi to participate in his sister’s funeral ceremony. Noted author and journalist Geeta Mehta is the daughter of legendary leader late Biju Patnaik and the elder sister of the Chief Minister. She passed away yesterday at her residence. She was 80.
