Modi government is attacking the country’s democracy, media organizations, journalists and opposition politicians under fascist rule

Berhampur, 7/10 (Abhijit Kar): A joint protest program has been organized at the Old Bus Stand by the opposition political parties in protest against the attack and arrest of media houses, journalists and opposition politicians with false charges. The opposition leaders have expressed their opinion that the RSS lead Narendra Modi government has launched a blatant attack on the country’s democracy, media organizations, journalists and dissenting politicians under fascist rule. On October 3, the ED raided the residence of Mr. Prabir Purkayastha, the founder and chief editor of the online newspaper “News Click” in Delhi and seized his laptop, mobile phone, etc. Along with this, valuable papers including laptops and mobile phones of more than 80 employees including 46 journalists and employees of ‘News Click’ institute including many senior journalists, famous historians, cartoonists have been confiscated. They have been detained for hours in the name of interrogation and subjected to mental torture.

Editor-in-Chief of ‘News Click’ Prabir Purkayasth and Human Resources Chief Amit Chakraborty have been arrested under the UPA, which stands for “Unlawful Activities Prevention Act”. However, attempts have been made to frighten them by questioning them about what they have to do with the country’s historic farmers’ movement, civil rights movement of Sahin Bagh, JNU student movement and labor movement. Cases have been filed against many journalists. Such attacks on journalists and news outlets who fearlessly serve news based on facts and truth are undemocratic and unconstitutional. This reflects the dictatorial, fascist, vindictive and vindictive nature of the Modi government. Earlier, the Modi government has taken appropriate action against leading news organizations like BBC, Wire, Daily Bhaskar, Bharat News and tried to silence them. Similarly, the MP of our Aadmi Party, Shri Sanjay Singh, has been arrested in retaliation.

Earlier, many leaders of major opposition parties who opposed the government’s anti-people policies have been interrogated by IDIs and many opposition politicians, social workers and intellectuals are still in jail. Overall, this is a flagrant attack on constitutionally guaranteed democratic rights, freedom of speech and expression, and is tantamount to an undeclared emergency. He has called for public unity against this blatant attack. Pitabas Panda, Brundaban Khatei, Maheshwar Patra, Chinmay Kumar Hota, Suprabha Kumari Das, Tatsat Subudhi, Prakash Chandra Patra, Nilakantha Das, Pradeep Sethi, Subas Raut, Aditya Tripathi, Shiv Prasad Mahapatra, Kailas Shadhangi, Babula Naik, Kishore Mishra and Shankar were involved.
