After Thailand, Sri Lanka, Now Malaysia Offers Visa-Free Entry To Indians

Starting from December 1, Malaysia will waive entry visa requirements for Chinese and Indian citizens, allowing a visa-free stay of up to 30 days, subject to security screening. The move follows similar decisions by Sri Lanka and Thailand, aligning with Malaysia’s strategy to boost economic growth by attracting more tourists. Currently, Indian citizens can obtain a visa-on-arrival in Malaysia if arriving from certain countries. Malaysia offers various visa options for Indians, including the eNTRI Visa, E-Visa, and Transit Pass. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, during the People’s Justice Party’s annual congress, stated plans to enhance visa facilities, specifically targeting tourists and investors from India and China.

China also announced visa-free entry for citizens from six countries, including Malaysia, while Thailand has lifted visa requirements for Indian visitors. Sri Lanka has introduced a visa-free entry initiative for visitors from India and several other countries. According to the Passport Index 2023, Indian passport holders have visa-free access to 57 countries. This includes countries offering visa-free travel, visa-on-arrival facilities, and Electronic Travel Authorization. Countries like Maldives, Indonesia, and Iran provide visa-on-arrival facilities for Indian visitors.
